Yesterday I had the honor of seeing my cousin Jane Yesterday I had the honor of seeing my cousin Jane’s exhibit at The Trenton Museum, called: I Am Not Alone: My 100 Vital Voices.

I read Jane’s artist statement (above) and took in the power of her words and her art.

I was reminded again:

Even in our loneliest moments, we are never truly alone. We get to choose who we carry with us; how we let people in; how we receive the connection from others and how we offer our heart to them.

As I embark on my nomad-ish journey, im really pondering the themes @journaljdk posed in her art:

☀️ the difference between isolation (walling off) vs solitude (choosing space to connect with myself).
☀️ who do i carry with me and how do i feel the presence of my connections even with physical distance
☀️ who are MY 100 vital voices, the people who live “inside” of my heart & lift me up?

I’d love to hear your thoughts ☀️☀️❤️

PS I was sooooooo delighted and touched to be included - can you find me among those 100 glorious faces?

It’s quite a paradox: we are conditioned to spen It’s quite a paradox: we are conditioned to spend our lives trying to “get more stuff” & prove ourselves thru our “accomplishments;”yet at some point, all the “getting” and “accumulating” & achieving can start to feel like a trap, keeping us from feeling the freedom we so crave. The treadmill of acquisition, proving and consumption can be quite draining and soul-deadening.

Many people have asked me: where will your home base be? Where will you keep all your stuff?

Whats left of my stuff lives in a 7x9 foot storage unit (more than half of which is going to my son) + 4 suitcases.

As for my home base, the truth is:

I am my home base.

And that’s the truth for all of us, whether we’re nomad-ing or living in a mansion full of stuff we love. Learning to be home within ourselves - separate from the trappings & roles & identities that we’ve used to define ourselves- is the path of a lifetime. Without that, nowhere will ever truly feel like “home.”

Im going to miss my DC people 🥲and I’m excited for the new people (and the new versions of myself) I’ve yet to meet ❤️

First stop: NYC 🍎

I
I’m oh so many (often paradoxical) things and al I’m oh so many (often paradoxical) things and also none of these things define me. I define me, moment to moment, with the choices i make, how i treat myself and others, and thru my devotion to the things that truly matter to me.

What we devote our life force to literally affects every single thing in our life.

What are you devoted to?

External validation? Safety & Security (aka control)? Hoarding money so one day you can feel safe? Being liked & seen as a nice person? Being angry at the world? Feeling victimized by your to-do list & everyone else’s expectations and needs? Status? Being enough in others’ eyes?

(Yeah, I know. I’ve been there. Still am sometimes when fear creeps in.)

Who would you be without that tho?

Can you imagine the freedom, the possibility, the limitlessness that comes from internal liberation from external measurements & definitions?

Can you taste the sweetness of a life devoted instead to love, to connection, to powerful creativity, to freedom, to meaning, to turning on your own light as true service?

Letting go of all that conditioning is no walk in the park. Its scary; it’s painful sometimes too. But it’s oh so worth it. You become your own compass. You feel the TRUE safety & security that comes from deep inside & connection to something so much bigger than $$, status, & all the BS we’ve been told defines us.

What if what Alanis said is true:
Everything’s gonna be fine, fine, fine.

Greetings from Portugal… A little bit more in st Greetings from Portugal…
A little bit more in stories about my impending nomad-ish journey.

Truth is: we are all nomads; life itself is a journey of discovery; of not knowing; of surprises AND clarity.

Try as we might to control it, life will always offer herself up in service of our deepening connection to our self, our deepest truths, our most authentic expressions, our most loving open hearts.

People say Im courageous. I am not. Im just stubborn and simply unwilling to let fear drive my life. Desire is my compass ❤️

Im heading straight into the unknown with my flashlight (aka, intuition + desire); my inner trust; and my little pup Pluto by my side:)

What about you? What unknowns are you embracing? How do you hold your self, calm your self, thru the unknown?

Life becomes easier when you learn how to surf her Life becomes easier when you learn how to surf her waves. Sometimes calm and sunny, other times wild and stormy.
And when you get thrown under - because life can do that to everyone sometimes - you don’t curse the ocean for being too big or too wild…and you dont curse yourself either.
Every single drop of it is part of the beauty that is your unique essence❤️

F is also for 1st. My first international trip wa F is also for 1st.
My first international trip was to France, at 13 years old, with my aunt.

I was recently invited to explore what choices I’d made through the course of my life that were most influential to who I have become (thx @kim__deyoung)…and that trip was one of them.

It’s not only that I loved France…but more the way it opened my lust for exploring cultures, trying new things, meeting new humans, and truly savoring life (and food). It showed me a world beyond what I was familiar with; beyond the comfort of my known life.

My aunt, now 80 (going in 60 😊) moved to France 30 years ago, first to Paris and now living in a small country town 3 hours south of Paris.
She left a fancy job and a fancy life in L.A., and opted for stunning simplicity instead.

As I get ready to leave my own American city, the place Ive lived for almost-30 years, it feels not-insignificant to be back in the place that, and with the person who, sparked it all 40++ years ago.

PS. My aunt hates photos so shes not pictured here, but I’ll see what I can do:)

What if your juiciest creations, your most impactf What if your juiciest creations, your most impactful “achievements,” your most meaningful work came from the deepest, truest, most alive version of you?

What if what the world actually needs (thank you Howard Thurman for your famous quote) “is people who have come alive?”

Thats the world I want to co-create.

Tell me (please) - What makes you come alive? And: are you willing to turn that UP?

(Me? Exploring new places; meeting and learning about people; deep heartfelt conversations; playfulness; sensuality; food as art; guiding others to SEE themselves clearly & remember who they really are; and apparently kissing horses who held me and guided me well 😂).

Im soon to embark on an adventure of a lifetime: giving up a home base to explore and play.

My mind says: no way can you make a life and a living out of this.
My heart and soul say: Just watch me 😳
